Toccata “Hygagan”, Opus 229
Dianne Goolkasian RahbeeMusical works with the title toccata usually imply an exciting, rapid, rhythmic, energetic, touch piece. Hygagan means Armenian. The opening Molto Energico section is polymetric (7/8 and 6/8 meter) with LH octaves throughout. The middle section Molto espressivo uses LH arpeggios and scale passages and then returns to the opening section. The final Appassionanto is played ff. You can find videos on youtube. The entire work lasts 3:45 minutes.
