Lois Rehder Holmes received two degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University, including a Bachelor of Music degree in voice, organ, and piano performance. She later received a master’s degree in reading from Western Illinois University. For over 35 years, Holmes was active as a piano teacher, organist, choir director, and accompanist. For many years she served as an adjudicator for The International Piano Composition Contest.
