Teaching the World to Play!
Michael Trowbridge is a graduate of James Madison University, where he earned the Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Performance degrees. For 33 years Mr. Trowbridge taught public school string orchestra at the high school, middle school, and beginning levels. From 1982 until his retirement in 2009, Mr. Trowbridge was the orchestra director at Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, where he earned the honor of the Outstanding Orchestra Program from the Virginia American String Teachers Association. The Gar-Field Chamber Orchestra, under his direction, performed often for the Virginia Music Educators Association’s Conference, a rigorous venue which challenged his students to play for an audience of highly trained music educators.
Mr. Trowbridge is currently a team writer for the string orchestra method book Measures of Success and Everybody’s Electric Bass Method published by FJH Music Company Inc. Mr. Trowbridge also shares his musicality through his highly regarded bass studio. Mike has performed bass and guitar in many genres including bluegrass, jazz, praise, rock, and swing. Mike has also conducted numerous orchestras and musicals throughout his career.
