W.T. Skye Garcia
was born in New York City in 1953 and spent his early years in West
Nyack, New York. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from
Colorado State University, and holds a Master of Church Music
(Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) and a Master of
Music-piano (Hardin-Simmons University).
Mr. Garcia is a
member of the faculty at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma,
where he teaches music theory as well as class and private piano. For
the past fifteen years, he has conducted the Creative Expressions
Piano Studio, a private studio with an enrollment of 30 students. Mr.
Garcia is active as an adjudicator for the Oklahoma Federation of
Music Clubs Piano Festivals. Additionally, he has authored an article
entitled Selecting Solo Literature for the Young Pianist for
the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Keynotes
magazine. Mr. Garcia has served as a director and instructor for the
East Central University Keyboard Camp and has also served locally as
a choral director and church organist. His compositions include works
for solo piano and solo voice, as well as choral music for both
sacred and secular choirs. |
