Born and raised in
south Florida, Ken Mattis received both a Bachelor of Music degree in
studio and jazz performance and a Master of Music degree in studio
and jazz writing from the University of Miami. During his two years
of graduate work, Ken was awarded the teaching assistantship for the
jazz saxophone studio, a role that involved instructing private
saxophone lessons and small jazz ensembles, as well as assisting the
faculty in improvisational courses. As a member of the award-winning
University of Miami Concert Jazz Band, he was afforded the
opportunity to perform with a wide variety of jazz artists, ranging
from Wynton Marsalis to Joe Lovano. Professional performance credits
include artists and groups, such as The Temptations, Raul DiBlasio,
Doc Severinsen, the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Florida
Philharmonic Orchestra.
Ken is currently
maintains both performance and writing careers in the South Florida
area. He is also an adjunct faculty member of Palm Beach Community
College, where he teaches a course involving MIDI and digital audio workstations. |
